Mama Update: Walking Like Robocop

Update on Bonnie: Today was another long day for Bonnie. She started the therapy sessions with Physical Therapy on the LOKOMAT, robotic walking computer that she is attached to and walks with. She walked for about 45 min. straight. Then proceeded to Speech/music therapy, where for the next hour, she sang along with the therapist as he made up songs with certain sounds and words for her to repeat, which she did exceptionally well!! The next hour was with the Occupational Therapist, where she was attached to another computer. This one was attached to her right arm, which, until today, she has shown very little movement with. However, today, after calabrating the machine specifically for her, she was able to play several games that involved moving her arm right to left and up and down. No such movement has been done, to my knowledge, since before December 11, the day of the stroke!! Finally, the last session of the day was another hour with a different Physical Therapist, who had her stand on a vibrating platform and do several partial squats, utilizing both her left AND right legs… again, the right leg has had little movement on its own since the stroke. She had assistance from the therapist, but what she accomplished was amazing! Then to finish off the day, she walked, with the modifies Walker and assistance from her therapist for about 280ft. The therapist said that she( Bonnie) is doing better at walking every day!! SO, I think we can chalk this day up as a VERY GOOD day!!! Continued prayers are needed and appreciated. Even though this courageous Lady has come a looong way, she still has a long and rocky path ahead of her. Thank you all for all the thoughts, prayers, meals, etc. over these last, almost, 3 months!! Your support means more to us than you can imagine!
